Director of Operations
With 25 years of education experience split evenly between teaching and school administration, Dirk Angevine brings a unique and dynamic capability to school management and guidance. Dirk graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor’s in Public Policy; his Master’s in Education was earned at George Mason University, and he received his Principal’s licensure from the University of Denver. He has worked with a wide diversity of students, at all age levels and with a range of learning styles including experiential, alternative, and traditional. Dirk moved to Evergreen from the Washington D.C. area in 1992 and worked as a Project Manager with his grandfather’s real estate development business.
Dirk has served as an administrator at metro area charter schools since 2000; his most recent position in Jefferson County was with Compass Montessori School, just down the street, where he was the Head of School. His wife was also a school social worker at the Golden campus and is currently working at Colorado Academy. They have two middle-school-age daughters. While growing up, Dirk lived in Pakistan, the Philippines, and Japan. He is an avid tennis player.
Director of Education
Kelly has enjoyed working in education for 25 years, as a teacher and administrator. She completed her undergraduate work in Elementary and Special Education at SUNY Geneseo, followed by a Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist at Nazareth College. Soon after her daughter was born, she discovered Waldorf Education and, based on her strong interest in honoring the individual and educating the whole child, pursued the Waldorf Grades Teacher Training Program along with the Waldorf Transdisciplinary Therapeutic Education Program in California. She completed two cycles of teaching Grades 1-5 at Shining Mountain Waldorf School in Boulder, CO, and has also taught at other Waldorf schools - public and private. Kelly has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, CA for 11 years where she trains teachers in the summers. She also is a parent of a daughter who had a Waldorf Education in grades K-12 and recently graduated from college. When not working, Kelly enjoys hiking, international travel, cooking, and writing.

Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Jennifer comes to Mountain Phoenix from Maine Coast Waldorf School (formerly Merriconeag Waldorf School) in Freeport, ME, where she spent the last eight years carrying a large and lovely class from first through eighth grade. During that time Jennifer was lucky enough to serve the school in various leadership roles and as a mentor to a variety of teachers. Jennifer earned her M.Ed. (2009) at Antioch University New England in New Hampshire and her BA (1993) at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She also trained with Karine Munk Finser and others in therapeutic arts and at Tobias School for Art and Therapy in England, where she stopped just short of completion of her thesis in order to focus on her then second grade class. Jennifer’s three daughters attended MCWS from nursery through twelfth grades and are now all in college in the Northeast. Jennifer comes to Colorado from Maine, but she has lived in rural and urban Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Florida. This will be the first time she has lived off the coast, and she is looking forward to getting to know the mountains and plains that are Colorado.
Jennifer will be working to support the Director of Education in the development of the curriculum and in mentoring teachers, focusing on the Middle School years of grades 6-8 with some occasional support in grades 1-5.
Faculty Support Coordinator
Originally from St. Louis, MO, Leslie came to Colorado for college and has loved it ever since. She taught ESL in Denver Public Schools for the past four years. Prior to that, Leslie taught in Los Angeles, CA, and Portland, OR, and she lived in Japan for one year teaching English. Leslie has been the AVID coordinator for the past seven years coordinating professional development and teacher coaching while being a classroom teacher. When she was teaching ESL, most of her students were refugees. Leslie has taken the foundation Waldorf teacher training through Rudolf Steiner college and is excited do this again with the Mountain Phoenix community. She fell in love with Waldorf education in Portland when her daughter, Skyla, began preschool in a Waldorf preschool. When they moved back to Denver in 2010, Leslie continued to enroll Skyla in Waldorf schools. Leslie loves to knit and do outdoor activities. She climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in 2006.
Dee oversees everything that has to do with human resources, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Her gifts include being detail-oriented and methodical about seeing the big picture. Dee has been working for charter schools since 2000 and is now starting her third year at MPCS.
Dee loves that Waldorf education teaches “to the heart and soul” and considers herself particularly lucky because she can hear the children singing and watch them playing during the day from her bright office on the second floor of the Main Building. She loves to interact with the students and often brings her granddaughter to festivals at the school.
When Dee’s not working, she does a lot of handwork. She spends her spare time knitting, crocheting, and doing other crafts, including glass fusion.
ECE Licensing Director
In 2010, Ashley decided to take a complete turnaround in her career from retail to child education. She wanted to do something meaningful and worth her time; therefore, Ashley went back to school and changed her major.
Ashley started as a floater working with infants to preschool in a Montessori School in East Plano, TX. She became close with the assistant director who asked Ashley to work alongside her, in her own in-home daycare with the ages infants up to 2 years. Ashley was thrilled and wanted to learn more working with someone who had the knowledge and experience. She continued to work at the in-home daycare until she moved to Colorado in June 2013. Ashley is a happy graduate of 2015 finishing her Associates in Early Childhood Education and Director’s Certificate from Red Rocks Community College. She plans to continue her education soon going for her bachelor’s in human development and family studies or in child development. With time permitting, Ashley plans to open up her own Waldorf-inspired, in-home daycare.
When not at work, Ashley spends her free time being a child’s advocate and volunteer for MACA (March Against Child Abuse), which is a non-profit organization. She is proud to be a child’s voice and take a stand for those in need. In her spare time, Ashley likes to go hiking, challenge herself in fitness workouts, watch movies, go to concerts, crochet, sight see, travel, and visit what beautiful adventures Colorado has to offer.
Ashley is always excited for a new school year and happy to be in the Sunflower's classroom as the assistant for a second year. Ashley also feels blessed and appreciative for a new opportunity as the ECE Licensing Director. She loves working with little ones and learning from them as she watches them grow.
Middle School Office Assistant
Cathy graduated from Red Rocks Community College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Metro State College (1991) with a BA in Elementary Education and a Minor in Special Education.
She taught at Foothills Academy from 1994 to the closing of the school in 2011. When MPCS took over the campus, she joined the faculty as an Interventionist and Substitute Teacher until 2014 and then became a Middle School Office Assistant.
Cathy also was an MPCS parent. Her youngest daughter Chloe attended middle school at MPCS.
Communications and Volunteer Coordinator
Sandra feels like she's found a home at Mountain Phoenix -- as a mom and an employee. She loves how the MPCS community honors each student's growth -- head, hand, and heart. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, knitting, going out to dinner, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and all of the other wonderful activities that come with living in beautiful Colorado. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in macro social work many years ago.
Sara moved to Evergreen, Colorado from upstate New York when she was a child. After high school, she attended the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and then, having fallen in love with the Northwest, stayed in Washington state for 8 years. In 1999, she and her husband moved back to Evergreen to raise their own children. Having a passion for non-traditional education, Sara has worked in a variety of educational settings including residential and day treatment, preschool, literacy lab for middle & high schoolers, Montessori upper elementary, and special ed. Deciding she wanted to put her OCD skills to work, she looked for a place she could combine her love for children but move into a more administrative position. The office at Mountain Phoenix has become the perfect home for her!
In her spare time, Sara loves to spend time with her husband, two teenagers and two dogs. Whether on an outdoor adventure, or having a quiet cup of coffee, Sara enjoys being with family and friends as much as possible. She feels so thankful to have found a community with so many kind and interesting children, families, and coworkers.
Attendance & After School Enrichment Coordinator
Nicole grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado, back in the days when it was mainly open fields and roaming cattle. She then went on to college at the University of Montana in Missoula where she received a bachelors degree in Political Science with emphasis in Public Administration. After becoming a mother, Nicole started assistant teaching in a private Montessori school in Evergreen. Eventually she ventured on to receive her Upper Elementary Montessori Training at the Center for Montessori Training in New Rochelle, NY. After lead teaching for a time, she chose to come to Mountain Phoenix and become the clinic-aide and assistant in the front office. In her personal time, Nicole enjoys time with her husband and two teenage children, as well as hiking, reading, horseback riding, gardening, snowboarding, and any kind of home fix-it and design projects.

Community Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator
Leslie has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with a concentration in art history, fibers, and studio arts. She worked as an Office Coordinator and Early Childhood Aftercare Teacher at the Tucson Waldorf School and also is a former Waldorf student herself. Additionally, she has served as a receptionist at the Four Seasons and a tour guide while living in Florence, Italy. She will be conducting our tours at MPCS and outreach within our local community.

I was born in Arvada, Colorado. My children are 7th generation Arvada area residents. I attended Red Rocks College, Front Range, Benedictine College, and DU while trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. In the meantime, I fell into the Real Estate business and got my brokers license when I was 20. I worked in Real Estate until just last year. I love to spend time with my husband, two children, and step-daughter. I love riding my ATV, camping, playing with my chickens, cooking, and gardening. Both my children attended Mountain Phoenix and I am looking forward being the clinic aide this year.
