Faculty Spotlight: Haley Scheuerman
What was your path to MPCS?
I taught Band for six years at a junior high school in Florida before coming to Boulder for my Masters in Music Education. Those experiences led me to realize that I wasn’t convinced that a “traditional” school experience was the most adequate, nurturing, or healthy environment for children. I began looking into “alternative” schools to work at when I graduated from CU-Boulder, and was thrilled to find Mountain Phoenix.
What is your job at MPCS?
I am the Band Director.
What excites you most about Waldorf Education?
It’s development-based and shows an investment in the individual child’s needs. I am excited to be in the position to learn. I was very comfortable in my previous job, almost to the point of feeling like it was easy. I’m thrilled to be teaching in a Waldorf-inspired school and learning how to be the most helpful that I can be for my students.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Being outside, yoga, reading, gardening, playing with my dog, and watching movies.
