About Us
Welcome to the Mountain Phoenix Community School!
Our mission is to provide an arts-based, developmentally appropriate education that nurtures the whole child: Head, Heart and Hand.
We are a Jefferson County charter school; a FREE, public school offering an educational program inspired by the methods of Waldorf education to K-8 students.
Our curriculum is comprehensive in scope and artistic in nature. Its academic components are aligned to state standards and framed within an artistic, creative and imaginative context.
We offer…
- An Artistic Approach to Education. Well developed programs in Eurythmy, music/orchestra, environmental stewardship, drama, and handwork enliven the academic curriculum and support deep understanding and academic success.
- A Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum and Learning Environment. We recognize the stages of child development and foster academic growth in an environment that values each child’s personal rhythm and supports the unique unfolding of their emotional and social intelligences.
- A Waldorf-Inspired Education at a Free, Public Charter School. Our educational program is available to all families wishing to participate in a Waldorf-Inspired education for their children. Active parent involvement is an integral part of our thriving learning community. Parents are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways from joining ongoing activities to school governance.
- A Homeschool Enrichment Program. We support homeschooling families by offering part-time enrollment for enrichment activities such as music, orchestra, Eurythmy, Field Trips, and Community Festivals.
- A High quality education in a beautiful mountain setting. Nestled on 4.5 acres of alpine meadow and conifer forest, we integrate the natural world into our daily learning. We are readily accessible to students from Jefferson, Boulder and Gilpin counties.
We are currently enrolling students for the 2010-11 school year. We encourage you to contact the school to schedule a visit and discover how an artistic approach to education awakens the imagination and brings wholeness and vitality to the classroom.
