I’ve been a parent at MPCS for five years now. I have two boys, Max, in third grade, and Jack, in first grade. And I’m looking forward to the next 8 years at the school.

I’ve worked for 18 years with an environmental and consumer non-profit group. I worked for three years in their financial department and for 12 years in the membership department. I think there are several similarities between running a non-profit and working with a school. And I hope my experience and attention to detail will help us make this school a special place for our kids, our teachers, and our community.

My hobbies include hiking, running, and making beer! We have a puppy and six chickens that keep us all busy!

Sarah Spica loves being a Mountain Phoenix mom and learning more about the vast insight in Waldorf pedagogy. Originally from a small, rural town in Michigan, she attended college for art in Pittsburgh and finally landed in Denver in 2001, where she found a new and lasting love in horticulture and landscaping. She also enjoys cooking and talking long hikes with friends and family. Sarah is looking forward to serving the community through Parent Council and the Gardening committee this year.

Growing up on the East coast I made my way out west via school and have called Colorado home for the past 16 years. My family and I love living in Colorado and all it has to offer. I am a stay-at-home mom with three kids - Maximus in 2nd grade, Jaxon in kindergarten, and Violet who just turned 3. This is our second year at MPCS. My husband Jeff, a teacher, and I are so happy to be a part of this school. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to have a Waldorf education for our children in a charter school. I fell in love with Waldorf when my oldest was in preschool. I learned a lot about Waldorf while homeschooling kindergarten and part of first grade, the more I learn about it the more I love it! I look forward to serving this wonderful community on the parent council and the art committee.

Welcome to all new families to MPCS. Know that we do not welcome you to the outer fringes, but into the heart of this amazing school family. I have been a parent at Mountain Phoenix since 2013. Our son began his school journey with the Sweet Peas and Skylarks. Now that he is moving into the grades I am excited to commit in a more formal way this year on parent council. We are learning and growing our Waldorf experience right alongside Eli and feeling blessed to be part of this community.

I work full time as a palliative care nurse spending thoughtful time with patients and their families who are navigating goals of care decisions. Ask me anytime about the unique importance of Medical Power of Attorney in Colorado.

I enjoy spending time with family and friends biking, hiking, snowshoeing and camping. I love to create because I grew up with an engineer and a home ec teacher. I love to cook, sew, build, remodel, paint, garden and write poetry and am delighted to pass on this curiosity to Eli. Thus he is constantly asking if we can “do a project together." My family feels we have found the perfect fit at Mountain Phoenix and hope you will too.

My name is Leah Hickler. I was born and raised in Durango, Colorado with my two younger brothers. When I was 21, I moved to Denver where I met and married the love of my life. We now have three children (Colton - 8, Caelee - 5, and Cora - 2) and two Maltese puppies. Our family loves crafty indoor activities and being outside as much as possible hiking, swimming, walking, running, biking, climbing, paddle boarding, yoga, snowboarding, and gardening. I choose a vegan lifestyle because I love animals, our environment, and our earth. We love Mountain Phoenix and have been very active at the school since the Wheat Ridge location opened.
