MPCS Foundation Annual Giving

We are a public school. With one great advantage.

Mountain Phoenix is a public charter school. That means we have fewer resources than neighborhood public schools — but we also have a great advantage: We can continue to provide a Waldorf-inspired arts and humanities curriculum, when many districts are cutting these programs. However, unlike your neighborhood school, we must pay for our own facilities — $580K annually for our Printmortgage, maintenance and repairs, as well as any funding shortages from the district. While we do generate income to cover these expenses, it’s just enough to break even and doesn’t cover additional improvements or special programs unique to a curriculum inspired by Waldorf Education.

Influenced by students, parents, faculty, staff, and design professionals, our goals include but are not limited to:

  • Enriching playscapes to include natural elements, curriculum gardens and woodworking, inspiring experiential learning
  • Developing distinguished educators and staff through an annual scholarship program
  • Ensuring all children have materials rich in quality while keeping school material fees reasonable for families
  • Equalizing classroom environments (chalkboards, wooden desks and chairs, books, toys and more) creating
    program consistency
  • Contributing to class trips through matching fundraisers enabling learning to take place in authentic contexts

How Much Should I Give?

Our 2014-15 goal is a $40 monthly gift per student. So if you have one child at MPCS, we ask for a monthly $40 donation to the Annual Give; two children, $80; three children, $120. We understand some are able to give much more, and some, less. We ask that every family gives a meaningful gift, no matter the amount. If you are in a place of abundance and can donate more, we sincerely thank you.

We count on, and are extremely grateful for, the generosity within our community. We are also very thankful for support from
grandparents, alumni and friends in our extended community. Invite the important people in your lives to make a lasting gift by enriching your children’s learning experience.
