Attendance
The importance of regular, daily attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Regular attendance is crucial to students and the school as a whole. Please try to schedule appointments and vacations during school breaks and over the summer when school is not in session.
Absences
If an absence is unavoidable during school hours, please remember to call the attendance line to record the absence.
- For Early Childhood, Elementary, and Homeschool absences, call 303-728-9100 ext. 333.
- For Middle School absences, call 303-728-9100 ext. 343.
Please remember to call in your child/children’s absences by 8:00 a.m. each day that they will not be attending school. If we don’t receive a phone call within 24 hours your child’s absence will be recorded as unexcused.
For clarification regarding excused vs. unexcused absences, please refer to the Student Attendance Policy
Pre-Arranged Absences
Any absence not specifically covered by another section, such as family vacations, college visits, or other extended absence, must complete a pre-arranged absence form in order to be considered for an excused absence. MPCS gives ample opportunity for vacations throughout the year and requests that families schedule their trips and vacations during scheduled school breaks.
The prearranged absence form must be submitted at least 3 days prior to the scheduled absence. In order for the absence to be excused, the student must meet one or more of the following conditions: 1) is in good academic standing; 2) has no unexcused absences; or, 3) has four or fewer excused absences in a semester or seven or fewer in a school year.
The Director of Education will evaluate the request based on the above criteria, and the school will notify the parent or guardian if the absence will be considered unexcused pursuant to MPCS policy.

Tardies/Leaving early
Parents must come into either the middle school or main office to check in their children when they are late and check out their children when they leave early. If you do not check in when late to school, your teacher will mark your child as absent. When signing your children in or out of school please list the reason for leaving or arriving late. If you do not list a reason, it will be recorded as unexcused.
