Napping House is offered to Kindergarten students as a part of our After Care Program. It runs Monday through Thursday, 1:30 – 3:15 and costs $150/month. It is not a drop-in program, but an extension of the school day and as such the children remain in their own classroom with an assistant teacher (usually the same assistant teacher who is there in the morning [but not always]) and often an additional “Napping House Assistant” – based on the number of children who are signed up for the program.
Although the program is called “Napping House”, we know that not every child will sleep/nap. Our expectation is that they lie down quietly for a rest after lunch. While they may not do that at home – this is where a strong rhythm and positive peer example often yields surprising results.
After rest time, the children get up, put away their things and spend their remaining time outside. Traditional After Care is offered (as a separately paid program) following the Napping House program from 3:15 – 5:30, Monday -Thursday and on Fridays from 1:30 – 5:00.
