The importance of regular, daily attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Regular attendance is crucial to students and the school as a whole. Please try to schedule appointments and vacations during school breaks and over the summer when school is not in session.
If an absence is unavoidable during school hours please remember to call the attendance line (303-728-9100 Ext. 329.) to report the absence. Please remember to call in your child/children’s absences by 8:00 a.m. each day that they will not be attending school. If we don’t receive a phone call within 24 hours your child’s absence will be recorded as unexcused. For a clarification of what an excused or unexcused absence is please refer to the Parent Handbook or the Jeffco Code of Conduct.
Parents must come into either the middle school or main office to check in their children when they are late and check out their children when they leave early. If you do not check in when late to school, your teacher will mark your child as absent. When signing your children in or out of school please list the reason for leaving or arriving late. If you do not list a reason, it will be recorded as unexcused.
If you know that your child(ren) will miss school due to a vacation or other commitment, the absence may be excused if the student meets one or more of the following conditions:
- Is in good academic standing
- Has no unexcused absences
- Has four or fewer excused absences in a semester or seven or fewer in a school year
Please fill out a pre-arranged absence form and submit it to the Attendance Office no later than three days prior to the absence.
